Six New Looms for Rupganj Jamdani House
Add six jamdani looms and train six young weavers in Noapara, Rupganj, so we can take the boutique orders we turn away every season.
About the campaign
My grandmother wove jamdani in Noapara and so did my mother. In 2016 I put my boutique money into four looms; today we have fourteen and sixteen weavers. Every season boutiques ask for more than we can weave. Six more looms and six new weavers change that. Hand-woven Dhakai jamdani sarees, table runners and cushion covers, sold to boutiques, from our showroom and abroad. Six more pit looms in an extended shed next to our workshop, six trainee weavers on wages for six months, and yarn for the first three months. Monthly output goes from about 60 to about 95 sarees.
